Investment strategy

LU Cleantech will acquire substantial interests in companies at different stages of development. The investment strategy is characterized by a high degree of selectivity but also of flexibility in terms of focus areas and development stages. The investments will be focus on four segments:

  • Energy efficiency, generation and storage
  • Advanced functional materials (e.g. nanotechnology)
  • Water technology
  • Biobased transport fuels and raw materials for industrial use

These four focus areas have a substantial potential on a global basis. The focus areas also reflect scientific strength that is inherent at Lund University and LTH, the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University.

The ambition of LU Cleantech is to disperse investments in regard to their development stages, from early growth companies to companies with positive cash flow. Primarily, LU Cleantech will invest in essential shares, a minimum 20 percent.
